Pinehurst School Plant-a-thon Fundraiser
Students will plant trees and shrubs in an effort to assist local ecological stability Students from Pinehurst School are requesting monetary pledges for a tree and shrub “plant-a-thon” to support current and future scholastic and extracurricular activities. In partnership with the Bureau of Land Management and the Lomakatsi Restoration Project, this spring students project to plant around 250 small trees and shrubs near and around Hyatt Lake and its campgrounds, and hope to plant approximately 75 indigenous trees on properties neighboring our national monument. These efforts are intended to enhance and improve the area for visitors to enjoy, and most importantly to reestablish the ecological stability of the area. In addition to the positive benefits for the local environment that will result from this activity, the students of Pinehurst will participate in the service of active “ecological caretaking” of the land. As they collectively plant these roots in the ground, they will reaffirm their connection to the land and each other through the creation of a future living forest legacy. Funds raised from this “plant-a-thon” will support the endeavors of the Foundation and of Pinehurst School to maintain and enhance the learning environment of our students, providing them with the tools to successfully ensure our legacy.
