Welcome to Pinehurst School
Since its founding in 1908, Pinehurst School District has faithfully served the families of the Greensprings community, thriving as one of Oregon’s smallest unconsolidated school districts. Its enduring legacy rests on small class sizes, exceptional teacher-to-student ratios, and a holistic approach to education that remains rooted in both tradition and innovation. Pinehurst School Proudly offers a curriculum that meets and exceeds state requirements, offering students rich experiences in art, music, theater, STEAM, and outdoor education.
Pinehurst School’s mission is to foster intellectual curiosity and develop the skills that empower students to become lifelong learners and critical thinkers. At the heart of our school culture is a profound respect for each child’s identity and a commitment to nurturing understanding and appreciation across cultural, generational, and faith-based boundaries.
Pinehurst School is not only a place of learning but also the civic and cultural heart of the Greensprings, a Southern Oregon mountain community bound by shared experiences, resiliency, and mutual respect. Our School Board dedicates its time and talents to maintain and enhance academic quality, financial stability, and the district’s vitality as both an educational and civic institution. The board works closely with staff, the Foundation, and Greensprings residents, honoring tradition while working to ensure and enhance Pinehurst’s future.
All that Pinehurst School has become has been made possible through the dedication and passion of local volunteers and the unwavering support of the Pinehurst School Foundation, which continually engages with and rallies the Greensprings community to help support and bring these opportunities to life. The Pinehurst School Foundation stands as a beacon of community commitment. Its mission, to cultivate community investment in order to enrich and sustain student education and success, has helped Pinehurst School provide remarkable educational opportunities, including:
- Off-site field trips to iconic destinations like the Grand Canyon and Yosemite
- The creation of the teaching garden and outdoor classroom
- The Laurie Grupe Art Center Classroom
- Funding for technology supporting STEM/STEAM courses (hardware, software, and media tools)
- Musical instruments and specialized learning programs
These achievements are made possible by PSF volunteers and sponsored events such as pancake breakfasts, Winterfest, and the summer community BBQ, each of which bring the entire community together in support of the school. Pinehurst is the cultural center of the Greensprings in a way that most communities no longer experience, and it brings something special to the school and to the Greensprings community itself.
Grounded in a culture of respect and inclusion, Pinehurst empowers lifelong learners to understand and value diversity across culture, religion, race, sex, and generation. Our school is more than a place of study. Pinehurst is a civic center in the truest sense of the word – a place that is rooted in tradition and enriched by collaboration, innovation, and the gracious support of our families and neighbors.
We remain deeply grateful for the generational support, volunteerism, and leadership of the Pinehurst School Foundation, our School Board, and our broader community. Together, we preserve the integrity of our school’s proud history while working to secure and even better future.
