Pinehurst School is pleased to announce the successful implementation of a four-day school week beginning in the 2025-2026 academic year. Effective immediately, the school will operate Monday through Thursday, with updated classroom hours from 8:05 a.m. to 3:30 p.m.
This transition reflects the district’s commitment to supporting students, families, and staff while continuing to meet the rigorous academic requirements established by the Oregon Department of Education (ODE).
“We are incredibly excited about this change and the many benefits it offers to our school community,” said Emily Cozza, District Administrator of Pinehurst School. By adopting a four-day instructional week, we are able to provide students and families with more flexibility and valuable time together without compromising the quality of education our students receive.
The decision to move to a four-day week was made after careful analysis, community input, and strategic planning. Pinehurst School has redesigned its instructional schedule to ensure that all ODE instructional time requirements are met or exceeded, and that the academic integrity and excellence of its programs are preserved.
Key goals of the four-day week include:
– Maintaining high academic performance through optimized instructional time
– Creating more opportunities for community engagement and learning outside the classroom
– Supporting student wellness by allowing more time for rest, family, and extracurricular enrichment
The school remains committed to evaluating the effectiveness of this schedule and will continue to monitor student progress and engagement throughout the year.
