I was born and raised in Fargo, North Dakota, the sixth of nine children. After one year of college, I enlisted in the Army in 1971. I later earned a business degree from Pacific Lutheran University in May 1976 and a J.D. from the University of San Diego School of Law in 1980.

Following law school, I worked for a year with a small law firm in Grand Forks, North Dakota, and then served for a school year as a business law professor at the University of North Dakota. In 1982, I moved to Anchorage, Alaska, where I spent 14 years with the Municipality of Anchorage Law Department and 17 years in BP’s Contracts/Supply Chain Management Department. During my time with BP, I worked in Anchorage, on Alaska’s North Slope, and in Algeria. I retired from BP in December 2013.

In 2001, my family purchased property in the Greensprings. We moved to Oregon in June 2006 and built the home where we live today. I have served on the Pinehurst School Board since 2023. I am married and have one son and three daughters.

As for hobbies and interests, I enjoy working in the woods and following politics.

My vision for Pinehurst is to help ensure that Pinehurst School remains a welcoming, high-expectations learning community where every student feels safe, supported, and inspired to reach their full academic potential. I believe we accomplish this by investing in excellent educators, administrators, and staff. Our goal is not only to prepare students for academic success, but also to equip them for meaningful, engaged lives as curious and critical thinkers and active citizens.
