Alison Kling– Board Member, Position 3
Email: board@pinehurst.k12.or.us
I first came to the Greensprings in 1976, bought property in 1979, and joined the Pinehurst School Board in 1994. My husband, Phil, and I raised two children, both of whom attended Pinehurst School from kindergarten through 8th grade, and both who grew into remarkably well-rounded, successful human beings—exemplary examples of a Pinehurst School education.
I earned my BA in Sociology from Trinity College in Deerfield, IL, and both a Teaching Certification in English Secondary Education and an MA in Linguistics from Northeastern Illinois University in Chicago. My life’s work has been in education and the preservation of the environment, and although now officially retired, I remain busier than ever supporting Pinehurst School and its community.
In addition to my service on the Pinehurst School Board, and volunteer work for the school, I have also been serving on the Pinehurst School Foundation since 2015, to help ensure supplemental funding needs for our school’s programs to maintain its tradition of excellence.
When not focused on Pinehurst, I enjoy hiking, running, backpacking (in the summer), cross-country skiing (in the winter), and spending time with family, and friends through book groups and entertaining.
My vision as a board member is to support and sustain an exceptional, well-rounded education for all our Pinehurst children by collaborating, communicating, and networking with staff, families, the Foundation, and our Greensprings stakeholders to ensure ongoing excellence and stability.
